Since 2002, the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation has supported the development of emerging artists in New Brunswick through a scholarship program. If you would like to help support one of our scholarships please go to our donation page for more information.

Fred Ross Scholarship

The Fred Ross Scholarship was created to acknowledge the remarkable career of the painter Fred Ross and to recognize his deep interest in helping artist of the future. It is an opportunity for high school students entering post secondary training in the visual arts. – More info

Sheila Mackay Advanced Studies Scholarship

The Sheila Mackay Advanced Studies Scholarship is available annually to New Brunswick residents entering a recognized graduate or doctoral program in either studio based work or in academic studies in Art History, Art Education or Art Gallery and Museum Studies. – More info

Sheila Hugh Mackay Merit Bursaries

The SHMF has established merit bursaries for visual arts students at Mount Allison University, University of Moncton and the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. Annually, each institution selects a deserving second or third year student in a visual arts program to receive a $2000 bursary in recognition of their accomplishments within the program of studies. The Jury Process

The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation is proud to provide a fair and impartial adjudication process for both its awards and scholarship programs. Evaluation of all applications for the Scholarships is done by independent juries of arts professionals. The Foundation reserves the right to refuse nominations and applications that do not meet the published criteria or submission deadlines. – More info
