Ye Receives Scholarship

The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation is pleased to announce the 2013 winner of its annual Fred Ross Scholarship.

Serim Ye.jpgSerim Ye, who will graduate from Moncton High School in June, has been selected by an independent jury of arts professionals to receive this scholarship valued at $4000

Recommended by her former Visual Arts Department Head, Will Kealy, Ms. Ye was described as one of the most impressive students he has mentored in 29 years of working with young artists. The jury had high praise for both her advanced technical skills and her evocative paintings from life experience. Ms. Ye will enter Fine Arts Program at Ontario College of Art and Design in September 2013. Samples of her work can be enjoyed at www.sheilahughmackay.ca

The Fred Ross scholarship was established by Sheila Mackay in honour of Fred Ross’s distinguished career and his interest and support of young artists. This year marks the 14th anniversary of this scholarship available to graduating New Brunswick high school students pursuing post secondary studies in fine arts or craft.

Ms. Ye will be honored by the Foundation on June 21 at the Strathbutler Gala which will be held at the New Brunswick Museum in Saint John as part of the Atlantic Provinces Art Gallery Association conference.
