The Board of Directors of the SHMF elected to name journalist Michael Landry as the 2014 recipient of the Arts Advocacy Award in recognition of the significant impact he has had on critical writing dedicated to New Brunswick artists. As Arts and Culture editor for the Telegraph Journal’s Saturday magazine Salon, Landry has been lauded by artists throughout the province for comprehensive coverage of the arts. His dedication to research and his wide-ranging appreciation for all forms of contemporary art have won him the respect and gratitude of the arts community. Landry’s work has inspired the 2015 focus for 2016 Sheila grants.
This award is a recognition of excellence in critical writing both as editor of Salon and as a widely published freelance writer with a command of current trends in visual art.
