Symposium of art/nature 2016

Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant to Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen, in support of the Art / Nature Symposium: Moncton 2016 which took place from September 22 to October 2, mainly at the Millennium Ecological Park of the Université de Moncton, with incursions elsewhere, notably at the Aberdeen Cultural Center, the Art Gallery Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen and at the Department of Visual Arts at the Université de Moncton.

For ten days, nine non-permanent artistic projects were designed and arranged in the public space and were made in various parts of the park. Apart from these in situ interventions, the event hosted lectures, exchanges and discussions, poetry readings, and other interactive activities posing the question of negotiating the interstice between nature and culture. The event allowed the public to get acquainted with the artists and follow their creative process, especially during numerous guided tours.
