Jeunesse créative NB Artful Youth Exhibition Opening
Sunday, May 5, 12:00 noon at Beaverbrook Art Gallery
All members of the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation congratulate the young artists participating in the exhibition Jeunesse créative NB Artful Youth, opening in the Harriet Irving Gallery at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery on May 5th. This exciting exhibition is the result of a collaborative partnership of the nine provincial arts centres, Tobique First Nation and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Throughout 2023-2024 each centre offered diverse youth centered workshops funded through $30,000 SHMF signature grants, culminating in an exhibition of our province’s young creators at the Beaverbrook Art May 6 – June 10, 2024.
The SHMF salutes the Aberdeen Cultural Centre in Moncton; Centre des Arts et de la Culture de Dieppe; Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton; Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre in St Andrews; Ax Art Centre in Sussex; Société Culturelle Kent-Sud in Bouctouche; Saint John Arts Centre; Centre des arts d’Edmundston; Andrew & Laura McCain Gallery in Florenceville-Bristol and the Neqotkuk Art Studio of the Tobique First Nation for their youth engagement work.
“Encouraging creative young students to consider a career in the fine art or fine craft sectors is a focus for the SHMF” says Board chair Dan Steeves. “We are all very excited to see the work that has been created through this initiative and thrilled that it will be featured in our province’s premier gallery. I am looking forward to meeting these young artists and their parents at the opening on May 5. It will also be a pleasure to honor this year’s recipient of the $10,000 Fred Ross scholarship, Ella Gionet, during the opening ceremony.”
The public is welcome to attend the opening ceremony and invited to visit the Beaverbrook Art Gallery throughout the exhibition.
