Bonny Hill, artist, educator, community builder and art consultant, has been chosen to receive the unique Margaret Woodson Nea Mentorship bursary. Throughout her career, Ms. Hill has poured her creativity into education and community development while maintaining an active art practice. Upon retirement from Sussex Regional High School, Ms. Hill has delved deeply into installation work with large scale community participation. Currently her work is dominated by exploration of the Indigenous experience and is marked by a continuation of environmental activism and youth engagement.
Funds from this bursary support an in-depth mentorship with the author and activist, Phyllis Webstad, Founder and Ambassador of the Orange Shirt Society. In the spirit of Mrs. Nea, this mentorship is an open exchange that supports exploration and innovation.
