In the course of the foundation’s work throughout the province, the Board of Directors has contact with remarkable individuals who have made substantial contributions to the visual arts of New Brunswick  province.  During the annual SHMF gala celebration of visual art in our province, three remarkable women, Georgie Day of Hampton, Gisela Lindlau of St. Andrews and Sylvie Mousseau of Moncton will be presented with a SHMF Arts Advocacy Award as a recognition of their impact.

Georgie Day will be recognised for her work in the realization of public art. In her honor, a donation to the John Peters Humphrey Foundation will be made  to support her ongoing efforts to integrate public programming and art.

Art patron, Gisela Lindlau will be recognised for her multi-faceted efforts in creative community building.  Through a donation to Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre, the Board of Directors applauds the invaluable service Ms. Lindlau has provided to a rich and diverse arts community.

Sylvie Mousseau’s journalistic career, spanning thirty years, has nurtured understanding and appreciation of art in many forms.  The Board of Director’s Arts Advocate Award stems from countless accolades from the public for the work she has done to elevate the status of art in the province of New Brunswick.

The presentation of these awards and the 2023 Strathbutler Award will take place at Owens Art Gallery on Oct 19, 2023.  For more information contact shmf@sheilahughmackay.ca
