Through an annual facilitation grant program, SHMF works to support the professional growth and sustainability of visual arts organizations and collectives in New Brunswick. Based on public consultation, the Board of Directors dedicated the 2026 grants to proposals for organizational renewal through strategic planning and staff development. The 2026 call is a recognition of the necessity for all organizations to continually monitor and respond to the creative goals of their communities. The demand is greater than our resources, and we encourage other funders to join us in this important work.
Based on the recommendation of independent jury panels, SHMF announces its support for the following projects:
- The Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery in Florenceville-Bristol is deepening its educational programming through staff and volunteer training.
- The Centre des Arts et la culture de Dieppe is engaged in a year-long strategic planning sessions to deepen their engagement with the visual arts.
- Struts Gallery in Sackville, engaged in a major facility retrofit of a heritage building, is working with professional consultants to optimize their potential to serve artists.
- Sunbury Shores in St. Andrews is embarking on a multi-pronged strategic review of staff and programming needs.
