Jim Boyd

The sculptor Jim Boyd has been selected to receive the $10,000 SHMF International Residency. Mr. Boyd is one of 8 artists selected for a 6-week international residency program at the Buffalo Creek Art Centre in Nevada. This residency presents the unique opportunity to combine welded and fabricated steel with glacial stone, creating a sculpture through which Mr. Boyd expresses his ideas on the themes of migration and movement.

Jim Boyd’s major New Brunswick sculptures in Saint John, Hampton, Deer Island, St. George, Oromocto, and Grand Bay-Westfield are beloved community assets. A leading artist and educator in the 2012-2022 New Brunswick International Sculpture Symposium, Mr. Boyd has previously received the Margaret Woodson Nae Mentorship, collaborating with European sculpture Rob Good, and creating an iconic sculpture in Norway.

The SHMF International Residency Program is part of the foundation’s annual juried support program to deepen the creative practices of New Brunswick artists.
