SHMF is pleased to announce that Alisa Arsenault has won the 2023 International Creative Residency. Ms Arsenault, curator of community engagement at the Galerie D’Art Louise et Reuben Cohen. A multi-disciplinary artist, curator and arts advocate, Arsenault has been invited to participate in the Cow House Studio residency in Wexford Ireland. Through this residency funding, the SHMF recognizes the importance of research and reflection in the creative process and is proud to support New Brunswick artists deepening their creative practices
In honor of the many contributions of Jason Alcorn, past chairman of the SHMF, the Board of Directors is awarding a $5000 scholarship to Edmundston based artist, Christian Michaud. Throughout his tenure as a director of SHMF, Mr. Alcorn was a champion of career development opportunities for New Brunswick artist and is delighted with the opportunity to support Mr. Michaud’s artist residency in Paris at the atelier of Christine Lavoie. Working primarily in textile, Michaud embraces contemporary innovations in his work.
Ms. Arsenault and Mr. Michaud will be presented these awards during the annual SHMF Awards presentation on October 19, 2023 at the Owens Art Gallery in Sackville.
