SHMF announces a $20,000 Signature Grant to Craft Alliance Atlantic, a pan-Atlantic trade association working to support the development of the craft industry in Atlantic Canada.  This grant supports the participation of six New Brunswick artists in the upcoming Collect Art Fair in London, UK from February 28 through March 3, 2024. Selected by a professional jury of contemporary fine craft makers, Judy Blake, Brigitte Clavette, Shane Perley-Dutcher, Darren Emeneau. Gordon Sparks and Anna Torma will join artists from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador to exhibit at the prestigious international Art Fair.

Executive Director, Bernard Burton notes that Craft Alliance Atlantic has been working for many years to extend the reputations and networking opportunities of Atlantic artists. He considers Collect as “the premier global exhibition of contemporary craft and design, attracting a broad audience of  collectors, curators, and buyers from around the world. In addition to the main fair, Collect Open presents new ambitious craft installations by individual artists and collectives and a lively lecture program explores contemporary craft with leading voices from the worlds of craft, design, architecture, fashion and art.

SHMF is proud to join Craft Alliance Atlantic, Mawi Art Collective and the Provincial governments of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador in providing funding support for this significant visual arts opportunity.
