SHMF presents a Signature Grant of $10,000 to the John Peters Humphrey Foundation to support its work in preserving a significant Hampton landmark, Credo.
This sculpture, originally designed by Strathbutler artist, John Hooper is a testament to the ideals of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, drafted by Hampton native son John Peters Humphrey. Exposed to the elements for many years, Credo had become fragile. Through the efforts of the John Peters Humphrey Foundation this heritage monument and its surrounding park will be restored and bronzed under the direction of Kathy Hooper and Darren Byers.
SHMF salutes the important work of the John Peters Humphrey Foundation in its multi-faceted work to forward the ideals of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to respect the artistic heritage of New Brunswick. In making this grant, the Board of Directors calls on other private foundations to rally behind this effort to preserve public art and enhance our provincial cultural heritage.
