Saint John Arts Centre Sheila Grant 2015
Saint John Arts Centre undertook a project which enhanced its capability to exhibit challenging multimedia contemporary art. Building on a solid exhibition record, SJAC embraces the challenges presented by the multidisciplinary work of young artists.
The design and installation of Plexiglas covered cabinets and plinths now offer secure and professional display options. That year’s student interns were involved in the design of the centre’s new display options, underscoring its commitment to developing professional exhibition and curatorial skills.
The purchase of an Epson digital projector and a 46” Smart TV and Blu-Ray player extended the centre’s capability in digital photographic and video exhibition and educational programming. Executive Director, Andrew Kierstead reported that the creation of a mini-theatre in conjunction with this new equipment was a “quantum leap forward in providing better services to the arts community”
The SHMF salutes the continuing evolution of Saint John Arts Centre. Past SHMF investments in SJAC include:
- 2012 A kiln for the pottery studio
- 2008 Funding to establish a Graphic Design Studio for the Portfolio Development Program
