2024 Jury Statement Fred Ross Scholarship:
Ella’s work was impressive in its strength and originality. Ella already self-identifies as an artist, indicating awareness, determination and ambition at a young age to work towards a career in the arts. In her artwork, she explores different art media, and demonstrates an awareness of cultural and art historical references. She is skilled in depicting emotions through painterly expression. Her choices in composition, color and value are very strong, but she also shows the desire to take risks in order to create a strong memorable image. Ella is an excellent candidate for the Fred Ross Scholarship and we look forward to following her progress. Congratulations Ella!
