Erik Edson

Artist and educator, Erik Edson joined the Board of Directors in 2023.  Currently he is a professor of Fine Arts at the Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Art at Mount Allison University in Sackville. He received his MVA of Visual Art from the University of Windsor (ON) and his BFA at Queen’s University (Kingston ON).

Edson’s practice engages printmaking as a primary creative media and uses installation to expand and explore these concerns. He has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the New Brunswick Arts Board.  He won the “Canadian Printmaking Competition”, was a finalist and second prize winner in the “Open Studio National Printmaking Awards”, and was long listed for the Sobey art award. His works are in the collections of the Canada Council Art Bank, New Brunswick Art Bank, and the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York, USA), among other public, corporate, and private collections. His reputation as an inspirational teacher and mentor, combined with his experience as a practicing artist exhibiting throughout Canada, make him an exceptional advocate for the work of the SHMF.
