2020 Sheilas

In 2020, the focus of facilitation grants was the publication of well-researched, analytical examinations of the work of New Brunswick artists.  Three major grants were awarded based on the recommendation of independent assessment panels to support arts organizations realize print publications.

Created Here Magazine

Created Here is a new quarterly non-profit publication dedicated to a mix of first-person stories, critical arts writing, stunning visuals and research-based essays uncovering stories of NB visual artists, craftspeople and designers.  Both English and French stories elevate local makers and cultivate a connected arts community

 

       

Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery

Based on a curatorial and critical writing workshop in September 2019, a full colour publication with the working title Thicker Than Water will present an in depth look at 3 New Brunswick artists, Istvan Zsako, David Zsako and Anna Torma. Working in partnership with Owens Art Gallery, the publication will be issued in conjunction with a major national travelling exhibition of the work of Anna Torma.  This examination of the creative milieu of this artistic family  will deepen an appreciation and understanding of all 3 artists

 

Third Space Artist Run Centre

Third Space, in partnership with the environmental non-profit, the Atlantic Coastal Action Program (ACAP)   received support for the publication Shorelines.  The publication is a creative mix of creative writing, essays, photography and drawing dedicated to the threats and challenges of environmental change. Additionally the gallery will host a series of programs associated with the book launch that will offer the public an opportunity for deeper engagement with the visual content and the artists who have produced it.
