The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation is proud to announce the 2015 recipients of “The Sheilas”.
The 2015 facilitation grants were dedicated to the assistance of organizations with the delivery of programs dedicated to the creation, presentation and promotion of the visual arts.
Four dynamic art centres were selected from among many applicants, based on a careful review of an independent evaluation committee. Each centre will receive a grant of $10,000 to deepen its capacity to make a meaningful contribution to their regions and the cultural fabric of New Brunswick.
Owens Art Gallery in Sackville is expanding its on line infrastructure with a focus on the development of fine craft in the province. Under the guidance of professional curatorial staff, the gallery will forward its commitment to education through the mentorship of student interns in this project.
Saint John Arts Centre is working to enhance its capability to exhibit challenging multimedia contemporary art. Building on a solid exhibition record, SJAC is embracing the challenges presented by the multi-disciplinary work of young artists.
The Andrew and Laura McCain Gallery is making bold strides to enrich the gallery’s service to the community through the creation of River Art Centre and Studios. This new facility will encourage educational programming, artist networking and studio capabilities for the region.
Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre is to be commended for its recent renovation of Centennial House which deepens its ability in exhibition and creation. SHMF is proud to sponsor equipment development within the centre.
An emerging artist collective in Restigouche, Symposium BDC Inc will receive a grant of $5000 for an inaugural artist symposium in September. The selection panel commended the initiate and vision of the organizing members in building infrastructure for the artists of the region.
