Brigitte Clavette selected to design new Strathbutler Award
Since 1991, New Brunswick artists of distinction from a wide range of visual arts disciplines have been honoured for their significant contributions to the cultural landscape of New Brunswick though the juried Strathbutler award. The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation has taken a leadership role in the recognition of artistic excellence by offering a substantial cash award at a recognition gala. In 2015, The Board of Directors commissioned the creation of an iconic object that would symbolize the legacy of excellence represented by the Strathbutler Award.
Louise Imbeault, Chair of the Board, is proud to announce the winner of the SHMF design completion, Brigitte Clavette. “Ms. Clavette, a Strathbutler recipient herself, proposed a design that embodies the ideals of the award and honors the legacy of Sheila Mackay, the founder of the award”
The newly designed award will be unveiled at the 2015 Strathbutler Gala on September 24, 2015. Each of the past recipients will be presented with the award as a mark of continuing respect for their work.
