Ann Manuel
Award winning visual artist, arts educator and advocate, Ann Manuel has worked for over thirty years in communities across North America, UK, Europe, and Asia. Using drawing, painting, printmaking and installation, Manuel’s multi-media practice is deeply influenced by life processes and embodies themes of daily life, family, community, and environmental stewardship.
Manuel has been included in group and solo exhibitions in Canada, United States, Scotland, France, Italy, Brazil, Cuba, and Thailand. Her work has been recognized with the Marie Hélène Allain Fellowship Award (2016) and the Eidlitz Award (2019) and is represented in international private collections as well as Canadian public and private collections. Manuel’s recent print work has been included in the Altered Environments Portfolio in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Centre.
Born in Newfoundland, Ann Manuel holds a BFA (Mount Allison University), B.Ed. Artist in the Community Program (Queen’s University), and MA (University of British Columbia). Ann currently maintains a full-time studio practice in New Brunswick, Canada.
After completing her 2016 Marie Hélène Allain Fellowship Award project, she was invited to join the SHMF Board of Directors in 2018.
