A 2015 Sheila grant was awarded to support the ambitious renovation project undertaken to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Centennial House, home to Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre. The renewed building provides a spacious light filled gallery as well as working printmaking, ceramics, painting and jewelry studios, serving the communities of South-Western New Brunswick.

With the assistance of the 2015 Sheila’s Award of $10,000, the Centre was able to undertake significant upgrades to space storage, security and gallery installation. Custom built storage in the Ceramics studio facilitates its vibrant teaching program in pottery and sculpture. Archival storage in the printmaking studio and shelving for the teaching library were identified as priorities by Sunbury Shores Board of Directors. Funds were also dedicated to gallery installation equipment to achieve a standard of excellence in the presentation of art to the community.

“The 2015 Sheila Award to Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre made it possible to fully operationalize several art studios following the significant re-design and upgrade of Sunbury Shores over the winter and spring of 2013-14, which would otherwise have been delayed or subject to operational limitations.” – Caroline Davies, Chair of the Board of Directors.
