Since 2015, Suzanne Hill , a professional artist and art education consultant, has been a guiding force on the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation Board of Directors serving as vice chair of the Board of Directors since 2019 and active on the strategic planning, advocacy, awards and grant committees. A graduate of Mount Allison and McGill Universities; her works are included in many private and public collections, including the New Brunswick Art Bank, the Canada Council Art Bank, UNB, NB Museum, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the University of Maine, and the Governor General of Canada. She is also represented in the collections of the Canadian War Museum and the Department of External Affairs. She has served as a juror for the Strathbutler Award, the N.B. Art Bank, Creation and Excellence Grants.
She was awarded the Strathbutler Award for Excellence in 1999. She has served on the NB Arts Board executive, and on the Board of Directors of the New Brunswick Museum. In 2003 she worked collaboratively to create the NB Visual Art Education Association, producing a series of short films on NB visual artists. In 2016, in recognition of her career accomplishments and her contributions to the province, she was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Excellence in Visual Arts Award. Her most recent work “Hands of the Horseman” was exhibited at the Andrew and Laura McCain Gallery in Florenceville in 2022.
